The Artists Group is a collection of creative individuals who have come together to bring artwork to the general public whether they want to see it or not.
To promote the connection between artists and their communities, to enhance the relationship between art and society and to reinforce the historical importance art has played in the fabric of civilization.
If you are unfamiliar with the concept of a fringe festival, it started life in 1947 when eight theatre companies turned up uninvited to the inaugural Edinburgh International Festival. These groups aimed to take advantage of the expected large theatre crowds to showcase their own, alternative, theatre. The Artists Group, a Hicksville, Long Island based association, with its own history of multi- artistic events has brought fringe to Long Island.

Long Island Fringe Festival
For Immediate Release Fringe Force 3
Long Island’s best kept secret is out. “Operation Fringe Force 3” is ready to accept applications for the 2011 festival which will be September 9, 10, 11, on the Campus of Long Island University at C.W.Post in Brookville, hosted by the School of Visual and Performing Arts. Fringe festival participants are chosen on a first come first served basis, by the deadline of May 31, 2011. If the number of applications exceeds the available venue space, a lottery system will be employed.
Visual artists and artisans will have the opportunity to sell their art in a marketplace atmosphere; areas are 10’ x 10’. Multiple artists can team up and share the cost of a space. Sales from these spaces will remit 10% of the gross sales. Tables are FREE if you just want to distribute information about your group or organization. The public is invited to observe the art & sculpture up close & personal, along with the artists themselves.
Movie makers: apply for film screenings; we will be accepting anything from cartoons to feature films. Our cinema will be running from noon till 7pm and we will feature one film in our “Drive In Movie Nite”. Poets, theatrical presentations, music, spontaneous improv and dance complete the array of applications that are being received. If you are a performer or artisan, please send in your application by May 31, 2011 to be included in this year’s Long Island Fringe Festival.
This is the third year of the only fringe on Long Island, the best cutting edge, avant-garde entertainment happening.
